We are open to any topic related to genealogical/family history. Examples include:

 

• Migration routes

• Genetic genealogy/DNA

• Methodology

• Preservation

• State resources

• Special collections

 

The SCGS Webinar Series will feature approximately 18 to 20 presentations for the 2025 calendar year.

 

Presentations will be scheduled on either the first Saturday of the month or the third Wednesday of the month. They will be held live and are expected to run approximately 50 to 60 minutes in length, with a question-and-answer (Q&A) session of up to 30 minutes following the presentation. Each presenter should provide a handout to be distributed to attendees. The webinar presentation and Q&A will be recorded and posted in SCGS's Members Only section of the website for viewing. We require that presenters allow a minimum of six months of access to the recording for SCGS members. We require presenters to provide a minimum of six months of SCGS members' access to the recording and handout. The presenter may give a written request to remove the recording and handout at any time after this period.

SCGS requires that the presentation (the same or a substantially similar title and subject matter) not be used by the speaker within a 45-day period before or after the scheduled date and time of SCGS's offering within the Southern California region (comprised of the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial).

 

The Society provides an honorarium of $200 per presentation.
