About Jamie Lee McManus Mayhew

Jamie Lee McManus Mayhew, PLCGS, a California native, is a family genealogist, genealogical educator, occasional blogger, and professional researcher specializing in land records. She is president of the APG Writers SIG and a director of the Genealogical Speakers Guild.

Jamie Lee's passion was sparked as a teenager when she and her mother would navigate census records and pore over ancient tomes, learning about their ancestors. In 2010, she founded California Cousins, a family history research and education service. In her role at California Cousins, Jamie applies her extensive expertise to uncover family histories and piece together narratives once lost in the shadows of time. Her work transcends the traditional scope of genealogy; it's about connecting the dots of the past, bringing to light the stories and legacies that shape families, one discovery at a time.

Jamie Lee earned a Professional Learning Certificate in Genealogical Studies (PLCGS) from the International Institute for Genealogical Studies. She is an alum of the National Genealogical Society's (NGS) ProGen Study Group 14 and has taken numerous courses through SLIG, IGHR, GRIP, and NGS.

She earned a BA in Sociology and an MA in Educational Technology.
