Research Assistance
The Southern California Genealogical Society's research team is made up of highly qualified volunteers who conduct specialized research for you at a nominal fee.
Resources include our library’s extensive collection of over 40,000 books, thousands of microforms and CDs, and a host of up-to-date electronic resources.
Research cost for members is $18 per hour; for non-members it is $20 per hour.

In our own geographic area, we offer clients information on the vital areas of birth, death, and marriage, plus newspaper obituaries.

California Research
Our records include the names of people coming overland and by ship; many names were recorded in the newspapers of the day. In addition to the 1850 and 1860 U.S. Censuses, SCGS compiled an 1852 census for the state of California. We also have extensive records pertaining to the California Gold Rush:
