How to Submit a Proposal

2025 Webinar Submission Checklist

SCGS welcomes genealogists, family history speakers, and educators to submit webinar presentation proposals on genealogy or technology-related topics. If SCGS selects your proposal(s), we will send you a speaking contract explaining guidelines, deadlines, remuneration, etc. Questions? please contact Adrian Foushee, SCGS Webinar Program Chair, at webinar@scgsgenealogy.com.

What to Include

Contact Information

  • Physical Address

  • Phone Number

Public Speaker Profile

  • Biography (and/or one of the below that provides a biographical sketch)

  • Website (optional)

  • Blog (optional)

  • Social Media Links (optional)

Presentation
Information

  • Presentation Title (please no more than 90 characters)

  • Presentation Description – up to 600 characters

  • Presentation Topic: must state at least one subject area

  • Target Audience: Beginner, Intermediate, and/or Advanced (state all that may apply)

Exclusivity

We require that the presentation (the same or substantially same title and/or subject matter) not be used by the speaker within a 45-day period prior to or after the scheduled date and time of the Society’s presentation, within the Southern California region (the counties of Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Orange, Riverside, San Diego, and Imperial). Please indicate that this is acceptable to you. (State, regional, national or international-level engagement are acceptable exceptions)
